At seventeen I packed up and moved from the East Coast to San Francisco to study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. While in school and after graduation, I worked as a buyer, merchandiser, and manager at a variety of San Francisco stores both big and small, learning everything I could.
Somewhere along the way I began dreaming of having my own store in San Francisco. In February 2012 I opened Capulet in Russian Hill. Over the years I have developed a roster of devoted clients who come in time and again to purchase complete ensembles. Styling clients from head to toe has become one of Capulet’s trademarks, and I truly enjoy putting together outfits that make someone look and feel amazing.
After years of experience styling clients it seems a natural progression to offer styling as an official service. Thus the creation of Lauren Fay Wardrobe Styling.
My wardrobe styling philosophy is as follows,
- Make it fun! I have such a blast shopping and dressing, and I want to bring that joy to my clients. I spend a ton of time doing research in order to find the most fabulous and unique pieces for you to choose from. Additionally, I can help remove stress from the situation by hand-picking items I know will work for you and putting things together in a chic, creative, and effortless way.
- Express yourself! Fashion is a form of visual communication and offers a chance to project your personality to the world, so don't get caught up with trends, rules, and routines. I tailor each styling package to help embrace your individuality, while elevating your styling capabilities and the way you present yourself.
- You don’t have to break the bank! Great personal style can be achieved at any budget. A trained eye in your own closet can completely update your look and cost nothing. Each season I watch all the runway shows and translate my favorite looks at an accessible price point for my customers. I bring this same principle to personal styling, and due to my background in fashion design, quality is never sacrificed for price.
"Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live."
